Fishing Country With Charlie Pack

Charlie loves to take kids fishing, especially on his TV show. But the
numerous personal requests he receives could never be fulfilled. So
in 1996 Charlie created The Tadpole Foundation, whose mission is to
give every child the chance to go fishing. To this end, The Tadpole
Foundation maintains a fishing equipment lending library, and
sponsors an annual free day of fishing.
The Tadpole Fishing Party is held each year, on several small private
lakes near Waco, Texas. The property is owned by Dr. Don Risinger,
who generously allows the Tadpole Foundation the use of the lakes
each year.
The motto of The Tadpole Foundation is "Off the Streets, and On the
Creeks," a credo by which Charlie lives his life.
"A judge once told me he never sentenced a kid who ever had a
fishing pole in his hand," Charlie said.
The Tadpole Foundation is a 501c3 foundation, and contributions are
tax-deductible.
In 1999, over 4,000 children and adults attended the event.
In 2000, an extra lake was built by Dr. Risinger for a First Time Fish
Catch Lake. Thousands of fish were stocked in this lake, for children
who have never caught a fish.
For information on this year's event, please visit our
Tadpole Fishing Party page.
The Tadpole Foundation provides a free day of fishing for children
ages 5 to 12. The Tadpole Fishing Party is not a contest. There are no
prizes, trophies or awards; just fun and fishing.
All children should be accompanied by a responsible adult, without
exception. All fishing equipment and bait is provided for children
(only children are allowed to fish). All fish are released live back into
the lake from which they were caught.
Free soft drinks, snacks and food are provided. All participants are
provided a free ride by bus from the Church of the Open Door in
Bellmead, Texas to nearby private lakes.
Let's help Charlie and Dr. Risinger
keep our kids "Off the Streets and
on the Creeks."
